while i wouldn’t say Ventus was my favorite of the BBS trio (that title of course goes to mighty god-king Aqua, though Terra the little engine that just couldn’t make intelligent decisions makes a strong showing), i like how he…probably accidentally, let’s face it, wound up as a sort of deconstruction of the Princess/Prince of Heart thing.
like, he’s so pure and nice and naive that the dwarves think he’s faking it. (but they automatically buy Snow White. ‘cause titties. they at least lampshade that hypocrisy…) no one takes him seriously cause they all think his alignment is Stupid Good. trapped as an eternal macguffin in the pursuit of a stupid-looking sword where part of the process involves your evil side touching your danger zone. etc. and his hobby is breakdancing. that’s gotta be a deconstruction of something.
idk i’m just glad they finally made a male Prince of Heart (even if he did, in fact, need to be made), since having all girls make up the lineup of living macguffins and designated kidnap targets is really kind of insulting.
