you know, it’s pretty obvious when you think about it; Giygas contracted with the Incubators to become a puella magi, has phenomenal cosmic powers like Madoka, and by the time Mother 2 rolls around, his soul gem has long since been corrupted by grief and he is a witch. again, the universe-devouring type, like Kriemhild Gretchen.
i’m thinking his wish depends on when he made the contract — if it’s after Mother 1, it could’ve been simply to lose his weak human side. though i’m also thinking it could’ve been to save Maria from whatever dread soap opera death killed her, which of course goes horribly wrong.
